NEW DELHI : The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has asked all operators to submit monthly report of their International Long Distance Traffic by the 25th of the following month. Revising its earlier decision on the request of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), it directed all the operators to report international traffic minutes every month. The BSNL, in response to TRAI's directives, had stated that it was not possible for it to generate the required reports and submit the same to the authority in the prescribed timeframeand requested the authority to revise it. The authority agreed to the BSNL's request to revise the timeframe. Earlier, the expert group set up by TRAI recommended that the Government strictly monitor incoming and outgoing international traffic. It also suggested that the monitoring should be done on a monthly basis and ensured that there was consistency in the inbound and outbound traffic. The group, comprising senior officials of the Department of Telecommunications, Telecom Engineering Centre and TRAI, will monitor the traffic.
