Kathmandu : An Indian national, Mohammed Jahangir, who was injured during the pro-democracy movement at Tripureshwor in the heart of the Nepalese capital on April 22, died at the Model Hospital here on Monday.Jahangir, 23, was hospitalised in a semi-conscious state with a fractured skull caused by the police lathi charge. The spokesperson of the Model Hospital, Dr. Shambhu Upadhaya, told The Hindu that a team of doctors supervising Jahangir's health had declared him brain dead on Sunday.Jahangir, a native of Sitamarhi, Bihar, was working as a tailor in a local establishment called Rajdhani Tailors.Hospital sources said his family had visited him, but it is not clear whether they were his immediate family members. The sources said officials from the Indian Embassy too visited the hospital.Jahangir is the 19th person, and the first Indian national, to die in the pro-democracy movement that forced King Gyanendra to concede power to the people.
