Silver jubilee of hospital

Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology is celebrating its silver jubilee year this year. To mark the occasion some new facilities are being inaugurated on Tuesday. A medical intensive care unit with 70 for patients requiring chemotherapy will be launched as well as laparoscopy OT. A state-of-the-art radiotherapy dual highenergy linear accelerator with advanced gadgets such as intensity modulated radiotherapy, 3D conformal radiotherapy with financial support from the Government of India and the State Government will also be launched.

Open forum for children

Vijayanagara Bimba has organised "Chinnara Chavadi," an open forum for children, at Pramilabai Mane Corporation School, Vijayanagar, on May 7. The topic of discussion will be "Present-day environment and children." Psychologist C.R. Chandrashekhar, writer Geetha Ramanujam, journalist B. Suresh and theatre activist A.S. Murthy will participate in the discussion, which will be held at 11 a.m. "Kiriyara Katakate" (children's court) will be organised at 6 p.m. Former Karnataka High Court Judge A.J. Sadashiva will be the judge. Actor Bharathi Vishnuvardhan will answer children's questions.
