LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Government on Tuesday decided to hold combined entrance test for admission to three State agriculture universities from next academic session. The decision to hold a common admission test for the three varsities was taken by the State Cabinet here. Briefing media persons, State Chief Secretary N C Bajpayee said a Bill would be brought in U.P. legislature starting May 11 in this connection to amend the U.P. Agriculture and Technical Universities Act 1958. The common admission test would be held for the agriculture universities at Faizabad, Kanpur and Meerut. Faizabad would hold the first admission test, while other two varsities would organise it on rotational basis. In another decision, the State Cabinet approved the Governor's address to be made in the joint session of U.P. legislature on May 11. The Government also amended the tenure of the chairman and members of the newly formed U.P. State Sub-ordinate Commission from present five to six years. However, the upper age limit would remain 65 years.The U.P. Government also decided to pay Rs 5 crore for the land to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) for construction of a building of State Consumer Commission at Vikrant Khand, Gomti Nagar here.
