Rupee rises further


MUMBAI: The rupee rose further against the dollar on Tuesday on continued trade inflows coupled with weak dollar in the overseas market. Stock markets also firmed up sharply indicating good trade inflows, a dealer said.

In a active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee started better at 44.93/94 a dollar over last weekend's close of 44.96/98 a dollar and later rose further to end at 44.8850/8950, smartly higher than the last close.

The Reserve Bank of India fixed the reference at Rs. 44.99 a dollar against the last level of 44.97.
