NEW DELHI: Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Bharatiya Janata Party MP, has been reappointed chairman of the 22-member Public Accounts Committee, says the Lok Sabha Secretariat. The appointment is effective from Monday.
Other members
The other members from the Lok Sabha for 2006-07 are Khagen Das, P.S. Gadhavi, R.L. Jalappa, Raghunath Jha, Bhartruhari Mahtab, Brajesh Pathak, M. Ramadass, Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, Madan Lal Sharma, Mohan Singh, Rajiv Ranjan `Lalan' Singh, Kharabela Swain, K.V. Thangkabalu and Tarit Baran Topdar. The Rajya Sabha representatives are V. Narayanasamy, R.K. Dhawan, Janardhana Poojary, Suresh Bhardwaj, Prasanta Chatterjee, K. Malaisamy and Ravula Chandrasekar Reddy. By a convention established since 1967, a leader from the Opposition is appointed to head the oldest and most prestigious body of Parliament.
Reconstituted
The committee is reconstituted every year for examination of accounts showing the appropriation of sums granted by Parliament for the expenditure of the Government and such other accounts laid before the House.
