Cashing in on Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Tritiya day on Sunday was a day of high expectations for the jewellery shop owners in Kasaragod town. They had opened shops on Sunday morning with high hopes. There is a belief that if one purchases gold on this day the whole year would be prosperous for the buyer. The shops had also inserted advertisements in newspapers highlighting the belief.

While some shop owners said they had roaring business, others said they were disappointed. But they hope the belief may catch up with the people here sooner than later.
