Sankara Jayanti fete concludes

KOCHI: Hundreds of devotees attended the conclusion of Sree Sankara Jayanti celebrations held at Sri Sringeri Shankara Math at Kalady on Tuesday.

Regular poojas were held at the Math in the morning. Devotees participated in the holy bath held in the Periyar. Special poojas were held at the venue. A "shobayatra" was held as part of the Sree Sankara Jayanti celebrations in the afternoon. The Government had declared the day as "Philosopher's Day" in honour of Sree Sankaracharya.

Dominic Presentation, Minister for Sports and Fisheries, inaugurated the Sree Sankara jayanti celebrations organised by Sree Sankara School of Dance at Kalady. The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit organised a seminar on "Sankara Darshan" at Kalady on Tuesday.
