Treat for north Chennai residents

Staff Reporter

There was dance performance by Kalakshetra students

CHENNAI: A four-day summer musical festival organised at Sri Sayee Vivekananda Vidyalaya Matriculation School at Muthamizh Nagar, Kodungaiyur, proved to be a different kind of treat for residents of north Chennai.

Organisers of the festival were happy with the outcome as it gave a fresh opportunity for residents of the predominantly working class area to relish and cherish classical fine arts performances.

On the first day, a bhajan by Sri Viswa Vidyalaya was followed by a violin recital by Kunnakudi Vaidhyanathan.

Students trained by choreographer Lalitha Seshadri gave a Bharatanatyam performance.

There was a dance performance by Kalakshetra students and a performance by Anjali Natyalaya, who was trained by master Ravichandran.

Encouraging factor

The school correspondent, Thyagarajan, said the large crowd at the concerts and performances encouraged the school to come up with more such festivals in future.
