HYDERABAD: With the Asian Development Bank's annual general meeting about to begin in a few hours from now, the State Government is pulling no stops to hard sell Hyderabad as the hot investment destination. The prestigious event that has come to the country after a gap of 16 years is slated to attract close to 2,500-3,000 delegates, including Finance Ministers of more than 65 countries, big names in the financial world, banks, financial institutions, captains of industry, etc., along with the international media. The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad has been entrusted with the task of sprucing up roads and sidewalks on main thoroughfares to be frequented by ADB delegates. Roads leading to Madhapur from the Begumpet airport, Mehdipatnam to Toli Chowki, stretches covering Falaknuma and Charminar are being touched up.
Infrastructure projects
The civic body has decided that this is also the time to showcase various infrastructure projects it has taken in recent times like the new flyovers, foot overbridges, proposed metro rail and so on. Hoardings with eye-catching messages have been put up at 12 important locations dotting the twin cities and also banners welcoming delegates to the city and of course, selling Hyderabad. Barricades around the flyover sites too are getting a fresh paint with safety slogans. `Futurabad - future is right here, invest here; Gem of an opportunity, the pearl city; In Hyderabad, people smile wide, widen the roads, widen the space; Time for other cities to go green with envy - clean & green city; Hyderabad De'light', Hyderabad has been awarded the best lit city." "This is a rare opportunity for Hyderabad and we want to make the best use of it. We will also reduce the barricading at the flyovers sites to allow more carriage way," said Additional Commissioner (Traffic & Transportation) N.V.S. Reddy.
