VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada West MLA Sk. Nasar Vali on Tuesday advised the management of Visalandhra Book House to give wide publicity through pamphlets and posters about the list of books available at their shop. He inaugurated a three-week-long `summer book exhibition' at the book house on Karl Marx Road. Discounts from 10 to 50 per cent are being offered on select titles.

Mr. Vali lauded Visalandhra for making rare books available to book lovers at affordable prices.

Besides encouraging young writers, the book house was reprinting the works of writers and poets such as Gurajada Appa Rao and Devulapalli Krishna Sastry, he observed.

He said that books on health would be of great use to people.

Manager of the book house V. Kanaka Rao said Telugu translation of Bengali writer Sarat's works would be brought out in 10 volumes.

"Kathanayakudi Katha," a biography of Telugu cinema matinee idol Akkineni Nageswara Rao, penned by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana, was the latest addition.

The book house would publish the works of Gurram Joshua and Krishna Sastry, besides bringing out 40 books in children's literature.

CPI history

Marking the 80th anniversary of the Communist Party of India, the book house would publish the party's history and biographies of its leaders.

Mr. Rao said that the book house was keen on publishing children's literature and books on health and fitness.

Referring to prices, he said that book lovers who stepped into the outlet would not return empty handed, as there were books even for Rs. 2, Rs. 5 and Rs. 10.

As summer is a slack season, booksellers would try to improve their business by conducting special exhibitions and offering discounts, he said.
