MYSORE: Heavy rains that occurred in the city for nearly an hour on Tuesday evening brought relief to people who were reeling under the searing heat since the past few days.

The temperature touched a maximum of 37 degree Celsius on Monday and Tuesday was no different. The scorching sun and the humidity added to the discomfiture of the people, most of who averred that "this was the worst summer'" in recent years.

However, there was some relief in sight by evening as dark clouds hovered above. This was followed by a heavy shower that lasted for nearly an hour.

With dense cloud formation at around 4 p.m., people anticipated a heavy shower. But there hopes were dashed by winds that dispersed the clouds. A rise in temperature has been reported from Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts.
