Strike call in Manipur

Correspondent

IMPHAL: A 24-hour, Statewide strike from midnight on Tuesday night has been called in Manipur to secure the release of three youths who were allegedly forced to surrender to Assam Rifles on the promise of jobs and financial assistance.

Out of six youths who were allegedly forced to turn themselves in though they had no nexus with insurgents, two were released by court. The cases involving the others are complicated and hence could not be released. Two of them were allegedly forced to buy guns before surrendering.
