BANGALORE: The Kashmiri Hindu Samaj (KHS) and the All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) on Tuesday condemned the barbaric killing of Hindus in Doda District of Jammu and Kashmir and urged the Centre and the Government of that State to rethink about their policy towards minorities in the strife-torn State. In a statement here, R.K. Mattoo, president of the state unit of the KHS and Vice-President of AIKS, said the claims made by the Centre regarding restoration of normality in the State were hollow. The writ of terrorists ran large in the State, be it Kashmir Valley or Jammu region. If few thousands of minority community members could not be protected by the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir Government in vulnerable areas such as Doda, how could it ensure the safety of 3.5 lakh exiled Hindus if they returned to the State as desired by the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad? he asked.
Intelligence collapse
The massacre had exposed the total collapse of intelligence system operating in the State. The Kashmiri Samaj has urged the Centre to deploy more number of security personnel in areas where Hindus were living in small numbers. The Karnataka Pradesh Janata Party has condemned the killing of Hindus and said terrorists were posing a big threat to the country's security. The State working president Ashok Navalagund said the Centre should take steps to deal with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
