BANGALORE: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind M. Karjol on Tuesday inspected three petrol outlets in the city after receiving complaints from vehicle owners about the quality of service provided at these places. Adulteration and shortselling on the quantity are the most common complaints and Mr. Karjol randomly selected the three outlets for inspection. Mr. Karjol told presspersons after the surprise checks that he would go on such visits on regularly, not only in Bangalore, but in the rest of the State too. The Minister first went to a petrol outlet on Residency Road, which was not functioning, and had a signboard saying "out of stock". Inquiries revealed that the outlet has been closed for over three months. Mr. Karjol said the records with the Department did not say anything about it being closed down. He ordered the place to be sealed. At an outlet in McIver Town, Mr. Karjol found "everything is OK," and at the third one on Tannery Road, a boy was found carrying a bottle containing petrol. The Minister directed Food and Civil Supplies officials to take details of the petrol outlet owners and initiate action against them, since it was illegal to sell inflammable material in that form.
