Good show by NAL Colony

BANGALORE: NAL Colony boys posted two impressive wins on the second day of the State Junior basketball championships at the Sree Kanteerava Outdoor courts here today. While the NAL boys downed Kanaka (Kolar) 39-12 in the morning it was Nishant's fine shooting (26 points) that led to its (NAL Colony) 65-43 victory over Devanga Union and make it to the pre quarterfinal stage.

In the girls section, defending champions Sports Hostel (Mysore) and fancied JSC made it to the last eight stage with comprehensive wins over Bangalore Sporting and BCBC, respectively. Mounts Club too prevailed 44-5 over Falcons to advance to the pre quarter finals.

Girls: Mounts 44 (Namrata Rao 12) bt Falcons 5 (Ht: 25-2); JSC 34 bt BCBC 4 (Ht: 22-2); Spors Hostel (Mysore) 41 bt Bangalore Sporting 4 (Ht: 17-2).

Chikarangappa on song

Chikarangappa (154 gross) won the Category A (15-17 years) title in the South Zone Indian Golf Union junior/sub-junior tournament held at the Coorg Golf Links, Viarajpet, during the weekend. Khalin Joshi (155) was runner-up and Nihal Sabarwhal (161) finished third.

Chikarangappa also bagged the Category B crown (14-15) with the same score. Khalin and Nihal were second and third respectively.

In Category C (11-13), Rahul Ravi (155) was the winner and Trishul Chinappa (157) came second. Syed Saqib Ahmed (169) was third.

In the Category D (under-10) event, Shivnarain Srinivasan was the champion (168). S. Siddharth took the runner-up spot (173) and Akash Srinivasan finished third with a score of 181.
