Examinations postponed

KOCHI: All examinations scheduled for May 4 by the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit have been postponed to May 17. There is no change in the timings. — Staff Reporter

VAT registration date extended

KOCHI: The Ernakulam Merchants' Union has informed that the last date for renewing VAT registration and to submit returns has been extended to May 10. Union general secretary K Venkitesh Pai said that the last date fixed previously was April 30. — Staff Reporter

Goods wagon catches fire

KOCHI: A goods wagon caught fire at the Ernakulam South Railway Station on Monday evening. According to the railway officials, the wagon was returning to the Ernakulam Marshalling Yard after delivering naphtha to the NTPC plant at Cheppad. The fire was caused as one of the lids of the wagon was open and it hit the electric lines going overhead near the railway overbridge. The fire was put off after cooling the wagon. — Staff Reporter
