Tanker lorries to supply drinking water

Thiruvananthapuram: Collector N. Ayyappan, on Tuesday, directed tahsildars to get drinking water supplied in tanker lorries to the parched areas in the district. Mr. Ayyappan was presiding over an official-level meeting to discuss the acute water scarcity in parts of the district. He instructed the four tahsildars to submit the list of revenue villages facing the worst drought conditions. He also directed the four divisions of the Kerala Water Authority to prepare detailed short and long-term plans to solve the water crisis.

Last date for payment of telephone bills

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The last date for paying bills of the wireless and land phones dated April 7, with fine, is May 5. A press note issued here on Tuesday by BSNL said the bills can be paid at the Central Telephone Exchange, the Central Telegraph Office, the counter at the LIC, Pattom, and at the post offices that offer the `Gramit' facility. Those who have not received their bills can make the payment at the counter at the LIC Pattom and at the Central Telephone exchange by specifying their telephone numbers.

IGNOU, Mitraniketan to sign MoU

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Mitraniketan plan to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the award of competency certificate by the former for Mitraniketan's courses. The MoU will be signed at the Mitraniketan on May 6. — Staff Reporter
