Two arrested for conspiring to kill Roorkee politician

NEW DELHI: A joint team of the Special Cell of the Delhi Police and the Uttranchal police has arrested Javed alias Babu and Anuj Pundhir in connection with an alleged conspiracy to kill Uma Kashyap, a local politician in Roorkee and a prime witness in the Phoolan Devi murder case. The conspiracy came to light during interrogation of accused Sher Singh Rana, who was recently arrested by the police in Kolkata and brought to the Capital. Rana apparently revealed that he had contacted to kill Ms. Kashyap. He promised them Rs. 1.5 lakhs for the job. Rana had asked Javed to arrange for a weaponto eliminate Ms. Kashyap.

According to the plan, and asked Pundhir to transfer the money to Javed's account.in the Union Bank of Roorkee. Javed was to execute the murder with the help of Sanjay Kamboj.

Javed is alleged to be been involved in a case of dacoity in Roorkee in which he and his accomplices looted Rs. 3 lakhs belonging to the S.D. Degree College.
