KADAPA: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is pro-farmer and is striving to ensure welfare of farmers and agricultural labourers, Rajampet MLA K. Prabhavathamma said on Tuesday. At a rythu sadassu here she disbursed loans of Rs. 10.20 lakhs among three rythu mitra groups. She also gave cheques for Rs. 10,000 each to 10 farmers under the National Horticulture Mission. Addressing a the sadassu at Rajampet RDO office, she said the Government was supplying free power to over 20,000 agricultural motors in Rajampet and Kodur constituencies. She recalled the waiver of power charge arrears to the tune of Rs. 1,200 crores. Farmers should reciprocate by fixing capacitors to their motors by this month-end, she said. Urging District Cooperative Central Bank to supply capacitors to ryots, she recalled that Penagalur Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society disbursed loans to ryots for the purpose. A veterinary hospital was sanctioned at Anantharajupet and a veterinary dispensary at Korlagunta was upgraded and posted doctor, said Kodur MLA G. Venkateswara Prasad. Two mobile dispensaries were functioning in the district. The Agriculture Department was enlightening farmers on guarding themselves against spurious seeds and farming techniques, he said.
