Farmers told to adopt modern technology

CHITTOOR: Animal Husbandry Minister Gollapalli Surya Rao has advised farmers to adopt modern technology to get more yield.

Inaugurating a `rythu sadassu' in Chittoor division on Tuesday, he said that awareness programme would be taken up on the issue in the entire State.

The Government in consultation with farmers had decided the agricultural policies, he said. Fortytwo mobile veterinary clinics were opened in the State besides appointment of 205 veterinary assistant surgeons.

The Minister said 55 lakh acres of land was distributed among the poor for irrigation.

Chief Whip Kiran Kumar Reddy said that 2.90 lakh acres of land would be brought under irrigation by constructing Hundri-Neeva, Galeru-Nagiri and Telugu Ganga projects.

The Government was conducting `rythu sadassus' to educate farmers about the latest technology.

District Collector S.S. Rawath and others spoke.
