Son arrives in Srikalahasti, returns soon as father's health deteriorates

TIRUPATI: `Maha Mrutyunjaya Japam' was performed on Tuesday at the famous Srikalahasti temple, 40 km from here, praying for the quick recovery of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan who is undergoing treatment at the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.

The former union minister's son, Rahul Mahajan, who arrived at Chennai on Tuesday morning, reached Srikalahasti by road. He however rushed back to Mumbai immediately, reportedly on hearing about the deteriorating condition of his father's health. However, the BJP's election coordinator for North-East, Sandeep and a close family friend of Mahajan, Ramesh Sharma, who had come along with Mr.Rahul, stayed back and took part in the ritual in which the name of Lord Srikalahasteeswara would be chanted for 1,25,000 times over a period of six days.

The duo, who also got performed the /Rahu ketu japam', which is believed to ward off evil effects, later assured the temple authorities that they would bring Mr. Mahajan's family members at the conclusion of the ritual after six days.
