Akshat stars in SPV's win

NEW DELHI: Akshat Mathur's hat-trick was the highlight of host Sardar Patel Vidyalaya's 8-0 rout of Blue Bells School in the SPV inter-school football tournament here on Tuesday. Arnab Singh, Avi Gupta (two each) and Rishabh Bansal were the other scorers.

Meanwhile, Air Force Bal Bharati beat Shri Ram School, Aravalli 5-0 with Pankaj Negi, Gagan, Gourav Rawat, Pranav Ralli and Akshay Kumar netting the goals. Springdales drew with Army Public School 1-1. Kush Malik scored for Springdales while Virendra found the net for APS.

Earlier on Monday, Shri Ram School, DLF Phase III, beat Springdales, Dhaula Kuan 3-1, Birla Vidya Niketan defeated Amity International, Saket, 4-1 and Ahlcon Public School outplayed Blue Bells School 4-0.

Naman, Shivam shine

Naman Sharma 49 (50b, 5 x 4) and Shivam Gupta 47 (36b, 2 x 6, 4 x 4) scored useful runs as Sonnet Club defeated Delhi Police by 65 runs and made it to the semi-finals of the Om Nath Sood memorial cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

The scores: Sonnet Club 229 for eight in 40 overs (Naman Sharma 49, Shivam Gupta 47) bt Delhi Police 164 in 35.2 overs (Ravi Chikara 43, Sanjay Verma 41).

Raghubir Jr. in lead

Vaibhav Suri, Parth Bhatia, Deven Raj and Shrey Rajesh joined hands to put Raghubir Junior Modern School `A' in the lead with 7.5 points after two rounds of the under-10 section in the Delhi state inter-school chess tournament at the Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra here on Tuesday.

The results: Amit International, Saket (4.5) lost to Raghubir Junior Modern School `A' (7.5); Amity International, Noida (4) lost to Modern School, Vasant Vihar (7); Sanskriti School (Jr.) (4.5) beat Amity International, East Delhi (3.5); Modern School `B', Vasant Vihar (6) bt Delhi Public School, Vasant Vihar (4).
