KOZHIKODE: The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, (IIM-K), will be hosting the ninth annual convention of the Strategic Management Forum (SMF) from May 18 to20. The Forum is an association of strategic management professionals from the industry, academia and the public administration field to propagate the concept and practice of strategic management and has been set up at the initiative of Krishna Kumar, Director, IIM-K. The programme features a conference on "Strategic Management: Current Research Efforts and Future Challenges," a national seminar on "Global Business: Experiences and Challenges of Indian Companies," and a case colloquium and workshop on curriculum development. The participants will be a distinguished group of professionals, academicians, policymakers and practitioners working or having interest in the area of Strategic Management, industry professionals, entrepreneurs, senior government officials, non-governmental organisations, and senior managers from small and medium industries. Directors of IIMs in Kolkata, Bangalore and Lucknow will be among the speakers. A.C. Muthaiah, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM-K and SPIC Ltd., will inaugurate the event. Among the speakers are G. Rajmohan, Chairman, State Pollution Control Board; Shankaran P. Raghuram, managing director, Blueshift; K.R.S. Murthy, former Director, IIM, Bangalore; Shekar Choudhury, Director, IIM, Kolkata; and P.G. Apte, Director, IIM, Bangalore. Among the speakers of the national seminar are M. Ayyappan , Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Latex; Vijay Angadi, Managing Director, ICF Ventures; S.K. Kalia, General Manger (Credit), Bank of Baroda; Rahul Goswamy, Vice-President of Ranbaxy Laboratories; and Devi Singh, Director, IIM, Lucknow. In order to encourage submission of good quality papers to the conference and case colloquium, the SMF has instituted three awards an award for the best research paper presented at the conference, award for the best strategic management case presented at the conference, and an award for the best contribution (paper/case) by a doctoral student. Each award consists of a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and a citation. These awards are sponsored by Cummins India Ltd. The convention will be attended by over 120 participants from various parts of the country. Those interested in attending the event have been advised to contact P.R. Bhatt, organising secretary of the convention at IIM-K, Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode.
