A visual treat in store for Delhi
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
A visual treat is in store for Delhi this week with Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra organising its annual "Festival of Ballets'' at Kamani Auditorium beginning this Thursday.
The nine-day festival will comprise three ballets starting with a Bharatanatyam performance titled "Kshetrayya -- An Imagined Life of a Poet Musician'' which has been choreographed by Justin McCarthy. The second ballet, "Meera'', goes on stage on May 6. Shubha Mudgal has provided music for this ballet directed by Shobha Deepak Singh and choreographed by Shashidharan Nair.
Ms. Singh and Mr. Nair come together again for the direction and choreography of the ballet "Durga'' being performed on two days, May 11 and 12. Scripted by Neelabh, the ballet makes use of drums and vocal compositions. The lighting for all three ballets has been arranged by Gautam Bhattacharya.
