Fariz moves into last eight

KOCHI: Tamil Nadu's Mohammed Fariz staved off a strong challenge from local star Rynold Timothy 6-3, 6-2 to march into the quarterfinals of the KRL AITA all-India men's ranking tennis tournament at the Kochi Refineries Tennis Complex, Ambalamugal, on Tuesday.

Rynold led 3-1 in the first set but lost his way soon after, as the fifth-seeded Fariz took control.
