Take event as launching pad for forthcoming polls, say senior leaders

  • Preparatory meeting for Mahanadu held
  • Strategy to be chalked out at Mahanadu for local body elections
  • Congress Government accused of adopting feudal system

Rajahmundry: The preparatory meeting of Telugu Desam Party's Mahanadu, which is going to be held here from May 27 to 29, has called upon party cadres to gear up for the mega event that is expected to give a new direction to the party. Senior leaders also gave a call to take Mahanadu as a launching pad for forthcoming local body elections andnext Assembly elections.

The preparatory meeting held here on Tuesday in Anam Kala Kendram was attended by TDP Parliamentary Party leader K. Yerrannaidu, PAC Chairman Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, former Ministers Kadiam Srihari, Chikkala Ramachandrarao, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, Metla Satyanarayana, MLAs Ganta Srinivasarao, C. Babu Ramesh and a large number of workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yerrannaidu said that they would prepare a strategy during the three-day Mahanadu for the local body and Assembly elections in Rajahmundry. He recalled that during 1994, when the TDP was in Opposition, the late N.T. Ramarao held `Sankharavam' from Rajahmundry and now Chandrababu is also going to give a new direction to the party.

    Feudal system

He alleged that the Congress Government in the State is following feudal system and going to increase number of MPTC members in forthcoming Panchayat elections, without taking the Opposition into consideration. He cautioned Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy that he has to face the same fate which the Nepal King has faced.

Kadiam Srihari in his speech said that the Mahanadu will be attended by 30 coordination committee members from 294 Assembly constituencies and another thousand members will be as special guests.

    15 resolutions

PAC Chairman Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that they are going to adopt 10 to 15 resolutions.
