GORAKHPUR (U.P.): The body of Shakrullah Ansari, an Indian hanged in Kuwait, will be buried in that country in keeping with the decision of his family here. Ansari's elder brother, Atiullah, a police constable, said the Indian Embassy in Kuwait had asked on Wednesday whether the family wanted the body to be flown to India. However, the family decided that the burial should be done there, as it was unable to bear the cost of bringing the body back home. Mr. Atiullah also said that his mother had been having fainting spells for the past three days. Ansari, a resident of Balapar village here, was sentenced to death for allegedly robbing and murdering his employer in Kuwait three years ago. He was hanged on Tuesday. Ansari's `Namaz-e-Janaza' and other rituals would, however, be performed in his native village but not seeing his body would be a cause of great grief for the family, Mr. Atiullah said.
`Embassy did little'
Mr. Atiullah said the family was unhappy with the alleged inaction of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait. He claimed that the Embassy did not inform the family of the time of Ansari's execution and had not acted on complaints against his employer. Mr. Atiullah also claimed that his brother was allegedly tortured by his employer and Ansari's case was not put forth in the right perspective. Even mercy petitions were not heeded to, he said.
