STC achieves higher profit

CHENNAI: The State Trading Corporation of India has recorded a profit before tax of Rs. 50 crore for 2005-06 against Rs. 37 crore, an increase of 35 per cent. The net profit was higher by 44 per cent at Rs. 36 crore against Rs. 25 crore. According to a release, the export turnover exceeded the Rs. 1,000-crore mark. Import turnover has been of the order of Rs. 5,500 crore.
