A four-day-long exhibition of paintings by Indira Punia was inaugurated by former Prime Minister V. P. Singh at Ravindra Arts Gallery of Lalit Kala Akademi here on Thursday. The sixth solo exhibition of the artist titled "Strokes of Life" features 62 paintings. Lauding the works of art, Mr. Singh observed that the paintings were executed with extensive sensibility and excellence. The exhibition covers a wide spectrum from landscapes to figurative works and the working people find a major place in her paintings, he added. Describing the paintings as a synthesis of personal feelings and social dynamics, Mr. Singh said Ms. Punia was a born artist in the real sense. "Her works were in complete harmony with the world seen by her," added Mr. Singh. Stating that every time he reviewed Ms. Punia's work it took a new dimension, the former Prime Minister felt that her innate optimism shone through her work. - Madhur Tankha
