Standard helmets
New Delhi:
Two-wheeler riders in the country will now have to wear standardised safety-enhanced helmets as the Bureau of Indian Standards has made it obligatory for motor cycle manufacturers to supply a helmet, conforming to the upgraded standards, along with vehicles.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Transport Engineering Division of BIS.
Upgrading standard of helmets has become obligatory in view of the latest changes in European Commission regulations to take care of safety aspects of two-wheeler riders, due to import of high-speed motorcycles more prone to accidents .
