Kickbacks: Jagat Singh denies charge
New Delhi:
A television channel on Thursday alleged that Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigations found that Rs 1.5 crore in kickbacks had been paid to the former External Affairs Minister K. Natwar Singh's son Jagat Singh, who strongly denied any such dealing.
Quoting unnamed sources, NDTV alleged that kickbacks in oil contracts were finally traced to Mr. Jagat Singh and the breakthrough came last week after the ED got "crucial bank documents" that showed money transactions abroad.
The channel said Mr. Jagat Singh received Rs. 1.5 crore of the total Rs. 8 crore paid by Masefield as kickback, which was allegedly deposited in a London bank account in 2001. The remaining money was shared by various others.
Contacted by the channel, Mr. Jagat Singh said: "I will not comment till there is documentary evidence. I challenge the ED to give an account number for these alleged deposits."
