Mahajan, a vital strand of coalition politics: Bharti

Uma Bharti

Varanasi: Describing Pramod Mahajan as a "vital strand" of coalition politics, expelled BJP leader and Bharatiya Janashakti Party chief Uma Bharti on Thursday said the damage caused by his death to the leading Opposition party could only be ascertained in the near future. "Future will tell the magnitude of damage that his death has caused to the BJP," the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister told newspersons here.

Admitting that Mahajan and she represented two distinct poles of the BJP ideology, Ms. Bharti, however, clarified she never had any individual differences with the tech-savvy BJP general secretary.

"I have had ideological differences with BJP leaders and never harboured any individual hostility towards any of them."

Denying she had ever made any critical remarks against Mahajan, the former Union Minister prayed for peace to the departed soul. Terming Mahajan as an integral pillar of coalition politics in the country, Ms. Bharti said she was worried for Mahajan's mother who had lost both her sons.
