dated May 6, 1956: Elections in Nepal

Mr. Tanka Prasad Acharya, Prime Minister of Nepal, said in Kathmandu on May 4 that after the Coronation Week, his Government would get down to business of general elections "very seriously." It would be a new thing to this country and the people had to be educated about it. The Government would soon start a campaign to make the people election-minded. Asked if the elections could be held within the time fixed by the King - October next year - the Prime Minister said, "Yes, it will be done."
