DEHRA DUN: The Reserve Bank of India will open its regional office in Uttaranchal within two months. Announcing this here after a meeting of the RBI Board, a senior official said that it had also been decided to extend banking facilities through post offices, allow banks to open more branches and expedite the system of disbursing agricultural loans in the State. A committee of RBI and State Government officials will be constituted to work out an action plan regarding the role of banks after the reorganization of cooperatives. Efforts will also be made to strengthen the regional rural banks and the banks will be made responsible for implementation of development schemes, it was told. The RBI Governor, Y V Reddy appreciated the efforts made by the Chief Minister, Narayan Dutt Tiwari and his team.
