PATNA: Over 740 policemen in Bihar, from constables to Superintendents, are facing criminal cases.Official sources said here on Thursday that recently two policemen were convicted by the lower courts. However several cases were still pending with charges of dacoity, murder, rape and extortion. Acting on the directives of the court, the police headquarters had filed an affidavit in the Patna High Court about the number of policemen involved in criminal cases. Names of 78 policemen of the Vigilance Bureau had been mentioned in the affidavit. More than 120 Railway policemen were also facing criminal charges. However, 372 investigations were still pending.
