|
New Delhi
: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Centre seeking a CBI probe into the allegation of payment of commission to an agent in a Rs. 180 crore contract for supply of six helicopters by a Russian company to the Border Security Force.
A Bench, comprising Chief Justice Y. K. Sabharwal and Justice C. K. Thakker, sought reply from three Ministries Defence, Home and Finance and the BSF on a PIL petition contending that the contract signed in the year 2000 was in complete violation of the clause in the defence contract which prohibits agents, middlemen and fixers.
