Bangalore: The Karnataka State Government Employees' Association will organise a convention in the first week of June, according to H.N. Seshe Gowda, president of the association. Mr. Gowda told presspersons here on Friday that the date of the convention has been tentatively fixed on June 8. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had agreed to inaugurate the convention. Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had agreed to be the chief guest. Over one lakh government employees from across the State were expected to attend, he said. A seminar on "Increasing transparency and efficiency in administration" would also be held on the occasion, he said. "When we organised a daylong protest in March, the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister met us and promised to look into our five major demands. The Government has so far fulfilled two. We thank Mr. Kumaraswamy and Mr. Yediyurappa for listening to us and taking prompt action," he said. He urged the Government to fulfil the other demands as soon as possible. The other demands include reducing the eligibility for pension to 10 years of service from 15 years and the last paid salary should be the criteria for determining pension.
