"Govt. committed to VAT"

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has reiterated its commitment to implementation of an inclusive Value Added Tax (VAT) regime in the State. Though a late entrant to the value added tax system in the country, Rajasthan is the only State with a structured grievance redress system for VAT, according to the Chairman of the VAT Committee and Public Grievances Redressal Committee, S. N. Gupta.

Addressing a session on "VAT: Understanding rules and procedures" at a seminar organised by the CII here over the weekend, Mr. Gupta said the Rajasthan Government was responsive to the issues of the industry and was committed to evolving an "ideal VAT regime". He asked the industry to put forth its concerns so that they could be considered while making amendments.
