Bangalore: Union Minister for Power Sushil Kumar Shinde and Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will launch a project to establish the country's first museum showcasing developments in the fields of light and energy, at Hoody village on Whitefield Road on Monday. In a press release here on Saturday, Managing Director of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL), Bharat Lal Meena, said construction of the Light Museum and Energy Centre (LIMEC) would begin on Monday. LIMEC, owned by KPTCL, would be run professionally and would encourage research related to light and energy. "It is apt that the State, which gave the country its first hydroelectric power station, should pay a tribute to the country's power sector. The museum honours the country's history in the sector as much as it does the State's contribution in this area," he said in the release. The launch of the light museum project coincides with the beginning of the celebration of 100 years of power generation in the State. The museum will be set up on an eight-acre plot. The KPTCL announced the setting up of a human resource development centre, which will be located on the premises of the museum. The HRD centre, which will address the training and development needs of KPTCL employees, will have modern facilities, including a convention hall, the release said.
