Pondicherry: District Collector and District Election Officer G. Theva Needhi Dhas has said that voters coming to the booths, which have been identified as sensitive or hypersensitive, would be photographed in the second phase of polling here on May 8. He said 77 booths in various constituencies in Pondicherry region have been identified as sensitive or hypersensitive. Briefing mediapersons on the arrangements made for the second phase of polling, Mr. Dhas said this arrangement had been done as per instructions of the Election Commission. Voters would also be photographed in 15 more booths, which had shown more than 70 percentage of voting in the previous Lok Sabha or the last Assembly elections in Pondicherry. He said Maharashtra State Armed Police personnel had been posted in sensitive or hypersensitive polling stations. Mr. Dhas said mobile phones would not be permitted within the premises of the polling station and also within 100 metres radius from the booth. Assistant Senior Superintendent of Police B. Srikanth, who was present at the media briefing, said all arrangements to ensure free and fair polls had been made. Besides nine Superintendents of Police, all inspectors, sub-inspectors, constables and home guards and other wings of police personnel were being deployed for security. The department has also requisitioned 330 personnel of Central paramilitary forces and also India Reserve Battalion.
