HYDERABAD: Decks have been cleared for the readmission of N. Ramamurthy Naidu into the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) following a meeting with his elder brother and party president N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Saturday. They were closeted at Mr. Chandrababu Naidu's house early in the morning and the party headquarters in the afternoon. A dozen followers of Mr. Ramamurthy Naidu, who were expelled from the party along with him before the general elections two years ago, were present.
Decision today
Asked to clear the air, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu told reporters that the readmission was being discussed and a final decision would be taken on Sunday after a meeting with TDP activists from Chandragiri, the Assembly constituency in Chittoor district where Mr. Ramamurthy Naidu carried out his political activity. On the other hand, Mr. Ramamurthy Naidu said he would formally take the party membership on Sunday. He told reporters that there were no strong reasons for his brother to distance him politically. He said the TDP chief had isolated him in the face of criticism from the Congress that he was showing undue favours to him. He was himself hurt by the insinuation and compromised to stay clear of party activities.
