Jaiprakash, Jhuma hog the limelight

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jaiprakash Patel (UP) and Jhuma Khatun (WB) hogged the limelight by winning a double each in the one-day athletic meet (under-18), organised by the SAI in connection with the World Athletic Day, at the LNCPE ground on Saturday.

Jaiprakash won the 800m and 1500m double in boys' section while Jhuma Khatun emulated the feat in the girls' section by completing the 800-1500m double without much fuss.

VSSC, Classic post wins

VSSC and Classic CC recorded wins in the Thiruvananthapuram district `E' division cricket league at the VSSC ground on Saturday. VSSC defeated Ranji CC by 79 runs while Classic CC scored a six-wicket win over Titanium Recreation Club.

The scores: VSSC 179 for six in 25 overs (Vijay 83) bt Ranji CC 100 in 22.3 overs (Ureshima 35, Vijay five for 10)

Titanium Recreation Club 121 for eight in 25 overs (Ajish 27, Feroz three for 10) lost to Classic CC 124 for four in 19 overs (Kishore 28 not out).
