ANANTAPUR: The Maoist bandh had little impact in the district on Saturday, except cancellation of bus services to naxal-infested areas and closure of a few bank branches and cinema halls. The bandh call was given in protest against Tsundupalle encounter in Kadapa district last week According to the Region Manager of APSRTC M.N. Prakash Rao, 65 bus services on 47 routes to the naxal-infested areas were kept off the road since Friday night. All other services plied normally. Private bus services to the naxal-infested areas were also off the road.
Closed and opened
Petrol filling stations in the district were closed for a couple of hours in the morning, but were opened later. Branches of a few banks were also kept closed, while some functioned normally. Cinema halls had cancelled only the morning shows. All Government offices and commercial establishments functioned normally all over the district.
