ONGOLE: Union Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao said here on Sunday said that a super-speciality hospital was being planned either at Ranchi or Kolkata exclusively for the benefit of coal workers. Speaking to newspersons, he said that Coal India would provide scholarships and financial assistance to children of coal workers to help them pursue higher education abroad.
Measures on
Mr. Narayana Rao said measures were being taken to reduce the gap between supply of and demand for coal. He refuted the charge that most of the Central projects were being knocked away by Tamil Nadu and Kerala at the behest of Central Ministers hailing from those States. He however felt the need for Telugu MPs to work in greater coordination to protect the interests of Andhra Pradesh.
Retain native touch
Asked about Telugu cinema importing heroines from other States, Mr. Narayana Rao said that he was not opposed to other languages. But he wanted Telugu film industry not to lose the native touch. Mr. Narayana Rao came here to participate in the valedictory of three-day drama competitions held to mark his 60th birth anniversary. Kinnera Arts Theatre and Dasari Yuva Sakthi jointly organised the competitions in which nine plays were staged. Mr. Narayana Rao presented a golden bracelet to cine writer and dramatist M.V.S. Haranadha Rao on the occasion.
