Left combine to have State-level understanding with Congress in A.P.

Staff Reporter

Even APCC chief and YSR had responded positively to the pact, says CPI member

KURNOOL: CPI member of the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat K. Ramakrishna said the CPI-CPI(M) combine would have a State-level understanding while going in for local arrangement with the Congress.

Talking to reporters, he said APCC chief Kesava Rao and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had also responded positively to the electoral understanding with the Left.

Mr. Ramakrishna said there might not be any sweeping changes in the next elections, as no major political developments had taken place since the municipal poll.

Mr. Ramakrishna asked the Government to fight the case of quota for Muslims in the Court of Law to help students this academic year as was done last year.

He said the 10 per cent quota for SCs and STs in the Central Government institutions was also threatened due to court litigation.

Cancel Hinduja project

The CPI leader asked the Andhra Pradesh Government to cancel the power project of the Hinduja group in view of the delay in implementing it and also for violation of the agreement by transferring a portion of the land to private people.

If the Government did not act immediately, the project would become another scandal of the magnitude of Enron.

Mr. Ramakrishna asked Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy to withdraw the case against a TV channel in Anantapur saying that intolerance against the press in democracy was not desirable.
