NALGONDA: High-quality literature is a precursor for a good society, Collector Kaveti Vijayanand has observed. Addressing a literary meeting after releasing a novel - Jagadam - penned by senior Dalit writer Boya Jangaiah at the district central library on Friday, he said: "Writers and poets must expose the chinks in the administration with a noble intention of helping ordinary citizens." Recalling a short story, Boggulu, published by the author in a Telugu daily recently, Mr. Vijayanand observed that Mr. Jangaiah always sided with the downtrodden and the poor. "He highlights the problem and gives voice to the voiceless," he said. The Collector handed over the first copy of `Jagadam' to P.R.B. Kumar and felicitated him for encouraging the writer. Andhra Bank Manager Rajendra Kumar, who presided over the meeting, said that the novel was a blend of history, social problems and sufferings of Dalits.
