Sunday Jam gets city rocking

Staff Reporter

A choice between Black Sabbath and Judas Priest was offered and the latter got the nod

BANGALORE: For rock groups in the city and outside, Sunday Jam was another platform to showcase their kind of music. At the Palace Grounds, the Sunday Jam took time to gather steam, but when it did, the audience lapped it all in wondrous frenzy.

There for the music, the crowd of mostly young college students got into the mood slowly. Among them were a few older people who had come to check out the music by the younger musicians. Not more than a 100 people were present but those at the venue did enjoy the music. The energy level started increasing slowly. The bands that played before dark were way off the mark. The crowd hardly listened initially and just stood around and preferred chatting with each other.

But the scene changed when the band Audiophile took centre stage. The band's head banging initiated the audience to do the same and for sure, they loved the music. The band offered a choice between Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. The second choice won the audience nod and the band obliged with verve. Then came the numbers "Irony of Fate," "Tyklon" and "Theorised." Encore was the key word.

Other bands Spitfire and Souled Out were hits as well. Of the 14, one was a featured one, Prasanna and the Electric Ganesha. This band has flown down all the way from the U.S.

Music ruled. Yet, the ground beneath was messy and filthy. The place had just been dug up, and there was no place to sit either. The 10 chairs in front had been occupied by the early birds.

For the hardcore music buff, the atmosphere was too dusty and unappreciable. Even the food that was served at the food counter was just about palatable. The event was more or less an audition for the amateur bands of the city, running a race to play at the main "Freedom Jam" scheduled for August 14.
