Woman throws two kids into well, kills self

Correspondent

MAHBUBNAGAR: A five-month-old baby girl and her five-year-old sister lost their lives for no fault of theirs when their mother pushed them into a well before taking her own life by jumping into it at Ranipet village of Kothakota mandal in the district on Monday morning.

According to reports reaching here, Lakshmi (28) got married to Ramachandraiah Yadav 11 years ago. The couple had a son and two daughters but she was allegedly tortured by her in-laws with the active support of her husband, demanding additional dowry.

Unable to take the alleged torture anymore, Lakshmi took the extreme step. Around 10 a.m. she left her in-laws' house towards a nearby well. She first threw daughter Anusha into the well, followed by her five-month-old baby.

She tried to push her three-year-old son Bhaskar also into the well, but the boy managed to escape. She then jumped into the well and was drowned.

Villagers who saw the three bodies later complained to Kothakota police.
