THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy released the third and final volume of the `History of Freedom Movement in Kerala,' covering the events of the Freedom Movement in the State during the period 1938-48, at a function here on Tuesday. The book, published by the State Archives Department, covers the decade that saw the emergence of the State Congress and deals with its activities in Travancore. This period also witnessed the Prajamandalam dominating the political activities in Cochin region and the Indian National Congress in the Malabar region, which formed part of the Madras Presidency. Releasing the third volume by handing over a copy to Minister for Cultural Affairs A. P. Anil Kumar, the Chief Minister said the United Democratic Front Government considered it a major achievement that this project undertaken decades ago could be completed during its tenure.
